I'm Sittin' in the Denver Airport, Watching the Planes Fly Away, Ooo, I'm Just Sittin' in the Denver Airport, Wastin' Time

As you may have guessed, I'm sitting in the Denver airport. Bored. So I thought what better thing to do than write a blog post?! So here you go. Such fun.

I wish I had a dollar for every hour I've spent in the Denver Airport throughout my life. I could probably buy an awesome pair of shoes. Or a lot of baked goods. It's not exactly my favorite airport in the world (Orlando is probably the best mainly because it generally means I'm about to go to Disney World) but it could be far worse. I found a nice little charging station not far from where my next gate is and thus I sit listening to T-Swizzle on Pandora. Curious what that looks like?

That is what this looks like. I don't even care that 430 people just saw me take a selfie on my laptop. It's gotten to that point, folks.

A few things I've noticed about the Denver Airport: No one looks happy. I could probably count on one hand how many people I have seen who do not look 1) addicted to drugs 2) depressed 3) lost or 4) angry. I"m half considering breaking out into song and spreading some Thanksgiving/Christmas cheer.

Near as I can tell, the Denver Airport does not have a Starbucks. WHAT. I know. It's ridiculous. I mean you can find a Starbucks in Orem, Utah for crying out loud. Note: You can't find one in Provo. But Orem is rebellious enough to have one. This is frustrating because I just want a hot chocolate and yummy pumpkin pastry. But that's life sometimes. I will carry on.

Did I mention I've been up since 4:30?

And that I'm wearing two pairs of leggings?

And penguin socks?

And two gray jacket things because I didn't feel like bringing my giant coat?

A few weeks ago I decided to order a dress from ASOS. I don't know if you've heard of ASOS, but it's great. They have super trendy yet versatile pieces that are, for the most part, very reasonably priced. Here is a picture of it:

LOOK HOW CHEAP IT IS. And it comes in several colors! I went with the gray, but if the one I ordered fits well and such, I have big plans to buy another one (maybe in black?). I think this will be a great layering piece for all seasons. You can bet that you'll be seeing a lot of it on the blog.

A Word on Sizing: I ordered my usual size and it was SOOO TIGHT. The fabric doesn't have much give and it really hugs you tight so I definitely suggest ordering a size up if you want to be able to sit, breathe, eat, etc.

Annie's version of "I Dreamed A Dream"

There was a time I ordered a dress
The fabric looked soft
And the fit inviting
There was a time when when it was shipped!
And the world was a song
And the song was exciting
There was a time
Then it all went wrong
I dreamed a dream it would come yesterday
When hope was high
And life worth living
I dreamed that I could take it with me
I dreamed that God would be forgiving
Then I was young and unafraid
And dreams were made and used and wasted
There was no overnight shipping to be paid

No package in the mailbox
No box ripped open
But the mailman comes too late
With his truck soft as thunder
As he tears your hope apart
And he turns your dream to shame
He delivered it a day too late
He filled my days with endless hope
He took my package in his stride
But I was gone when he came
And still I dream that it will come to me!
That the dress and I will live the years together
But there are dreams that cannot be
And there are storms we cannot weather
I had a dream my dress would be
So different from this hell I'm living
In my suitcase with me on the plane!!
Now life has killed
The dream I dreamed

Have a great Thanksgiving, everyone. I love you all.

  1. You make me smile! Great song, and great dress!! One day, you and that dress will be together! Also, Denver is not my favorite airport either, but it's nice that it's the straightest layover to Utah.
