The 13 Best Things to Happen in 2013

My goodness, what a year it has been! What better way to celebrate the coming year by reflecting on some of the highlights from this past one? I have deemed myself an expert in all world news, trends, pop culture events, music, & movies so here's what I've got:

1. Imagine Dragons: While they've been around for a while, there's no doubt that this was their most successful year yet. With several hit songs including my current favorite, "Demons", and no signs of dwindling popularity, I predict that next year will be at least as, if not more, successful as this one.

2. Grumpy Cat: If you weren't a fan of cats before 2013, chances are, you are now. I mean have you seen how many cats are featured on Buzzfeed? They're taking over the world. And the internet. I think a fair amount of this popularity is due to the adorably angry Grumpy Cat. How can you not love a face like that?

3. The Top-Knot: Helping bridge the gap between bed-head and presentable, public hair since 2K13. Easy, cute, and quirky, it's the perfect way to style your hair when you and your hair are feeling lazy.

4. Statement Necklaces: This is one of the easiest ways to dress up even a t-shirt for an evening out. These gorgeous necklaces are versatile and come in a variety of colors & styles that can be suited for any personality. I hope this trend is here to stay.

5. Boyfriend Clothes: Over-sized, comfy, but can still look feminine if done right. Whether you buy boy-looking clothes designed FOR girls or just head straight to the Men's J.Crew section or your husband's closet (like myself), this trend is easy to participate in.

6. Justin Bieber Announcing His Retirement (again): I don't necessarily hope that this means he is retiring from music (he is a pretty talented guy) but I hope he drops his gross behavior and goes away for a while until he matures.

7. The Royal Baby: Seeing as I'm basically related to them (200th in line for the crown), I have a great interest in the Royal Family. Primarily in Kate Middleton's wardrobe. New obsession though? Prince George. I'm not ashamed to admit that I watched the live feed outside the hospital over the summer so I could be one of the first to catch a glimpse of the newest royal addition.

8. The Break Up of Miley Cyrus & Liam Hemsworth: So proud of you, Liam. We will always be there to support you.

9. Disney's Fantasyland Opening: Long overdue, this part of the Magic Kingdom at Disney World is entirely devoted to the Princesses that we all know and love. With new rides and an enchanting atmosphere, it's everything a little girl has ever dreamed of.

10. Jennifer Lawrence: I love her. She is my soul sister. And you should love her too.

11. Kolaches: Okay I understand that these have been around for way  more than a year, but I just discovered them. There is an AMAZING bakery in Bloomington, IN that makes them and they will CHANGE YOUR LIFE. Husband is there right now and I'm crossing my fingers he will return with some tonight.

12. The Rising Popularity of Vegetarian/Vegan Dishes: My mom is a vegetarian (she has never liked the taste of meat) so I grew up eating meat only once or twice a week. It's always been a struggle to find foods at restaurants that are healthy, original, and meat-free but this trend is becoming less of an anomaly and there are now entire restaurants serving only meat-free meals. The best one I've been to? Candle 79 in NYC. It's where all the famous vegetarians eat, including myself.

13. BBC Shows: Downton Abbey, Sherlock Holmes...need I say more? These shows' popularity certainly sky-rocketed this year and in 2014, we can look forward to their respective season premieres. I, for one, am having a hard time containing my excitement.

What else do you have to look forward to next year? Two giveaways from yours truly through my blog and Instagram account as well as a new design for my blog! I've been working with one of my good friends who is an amazing web & graphic designer and we are coming up with something that is absolutely beautiful. I'm confident you guys will love it. Keep checking back for more updates!

What I'm Listening To: Princess Diaries 2. Such a classic movie in our family.
Excited To: Eat the apple pie I made.
Wearing: Fleece-lined leggings, polka dot chambray shirt, and a blush cardigan.
Days Until Christmas: 364
