The Saga of the Colorblock Maxi

Tried to do a skirt twirl. It was a fail.

Skirt: Asos // Shirt: Target // Shoes: Lulu's (similar)

I have a hard time buying pretty much aaaany item of clothing that's more than $50. I had been eyeing this maxi for a long time but it was $50something and I just couldn't do it. THANKFULLY Asos decided to have a sale and cut the price in HALF. HALF MY FRIENDS HALF. So I ordered it immediately. Normally, Asos takes forever to ship things since they're based in Europe so I was more than pleasantly surprised when it arrived at my door three days later. Deep down though, I knew it was too good to be true. And I was right. They sent me the wrong size :(((((((( Several other things had gone wrong that evening (such as the Great Ant Infestation of 2K14) so I was in no mood to deal with my suddenly destroyed optimism. And as luck would have it, Asos has no customer service phone number to call. You have to email. So I furiously typed an email on my phone to them asking for the proper size to be sent free of charge overnight. "Tanya" replied within the hour and said their fastest shipping option would get the skirt to my place in 2 days. And in 2 business days, it was safely at my apartment. I tried it on only to discover that it was still a wee bit big. At this point I was just so fed up with everything that I decided to keep it and have my alterations lady take it in a smidge.

No biggie, right?

Fast forward to yesterday. It's like 90 degrees and HUUUUMID after work. I drove over to my alterations lady and explained to her what I needed done on the skirt. She said it would be difficult, but not a problem, and told me to go try it on so she could see how much she would need to take in. So off I went into the corner closet thing to try on the skirt. This place has no air conditioning. And I had to stand there a while before she was able to come over and take a look at it. She stared and pulled and tugged and while I stood there sweating PROFUSELY then finally proclaimed that she couldn't take it in and make it look nice. I told her it was ok and that I would just order the size down. Then I shut the door to change and Dagmar suddenly came running back yelling in her German accent "OOOOOH THERE'S A SEAM DOWN THE BACK!! I CAN FIX IT!!!" I had already told her there was a seam down the back, but I guess she hadn't heard me. I'm just glad she said she can take it in. I'm a little nervous about picking it up next week...But Dagmar holds a very special place in my heart. She does good work so deep down I know it'll be fine. I'll keep you all posted, because I know you all care so much :)

That was a probably a much longer story than you bargained for...But thanks for stopping by anyway :)
