1. How did you get started blogging?
I started in October 2013 after I transferred to Purdue because I found school kind of boring and I wanted a new hobby. I wanted to start a fashion blog when I was in high school, but never had time to learn how but now I do! And I love it.
2. What camera do you use?
Right now, I use a Nikon D60 with a 50 mm f/1.4G lens.
3. What is liketoknow.it?
Liketoknow.it is a platform I use to link the clothes I wear to my photos on Instagram and blog posts so my readers can shop them easier. When you create a liketoknow.it account (which is free), you can sign up to get emails for different bloggers who use liketoknow.it then the pieces they feature will be sent straight to your inbox and the pieces featured in photos you like on Instagram that are linked with liketoknow.it will be sent to your inbox as well. Or you can opt-out of emails once you sign up and just go straight to my liketoknow.it page to see the particular pieces you are interested in. You can learn more about liketoknow.it here.
4. What size are you?
Currently, I range from a size 0-4. It really depends on the retailer, type of clothing, and if I have just eaten at an all-you-can-eat Indian buffet or not. I'm 5'9" and about ~120 lbs if that helps give you a reference. If you ever have a specific sizing question, just email me or comment on my blog and I'll be happy to help!
5. What do you do with your life other than blogging?
I graduated from Purdue University in December of 2015 with a degree in Public Relations and Advertising. Currently, I work for a biotech company in their Quality Control department and am interning at a local marketing firm. I hope to keep blogging in the future as well as do some freelance PR & advertising work. I also love to eat, dance, sing (opera, specifically), do community theatre, play the cello, and hang out with my husband/family.
6. Where do you like to shop?
Target, H&M, J. Crew, Nordstrom, Zara, Asos, Old Navy, and Forever 21 are some of my favorites at the moment. I like affordable clothes, but I do occasionally like to splurge on timeless pieces I can wear forever.
7. Are you married?
Yes!! Since May 2013 and it was the best day of my life. Here [wedding tab url goes here] are some pictures.
8. Who takes your photos?
My husband because he is a saint.
Follow Up: What's his story?
He is great. He went to BYU for his undergrad and got his JD/MBA at Indiana University and now works as in-house counsel for a land development group that does college housing.
8. How old were you when you got married?
20. By 6 days haha.
9. And your husband is how old..?
11.5 years older than me. You can read about how that happened here.
10. I want to start blogging. Any advice?
Just start! I promise you can learn how to use blogger on your own. I was amazed at how much I was able to figure out by myself (I'm kind of technology-challenged). But don't be afraid to ask for help too! If you have specific questions, just shoot me an email. And keep at it! Read lots of different blogs and see what resonates with you. Be yourself and don't be afraid! Stay true to who you are and talk about what YOU want to talk about. Not what you think people want to hear. Stick with it!
11. How do you curl your hair?
I use a 2" cheap-o Conair curling iron but I don't use the clamp. I just wrap 1" sections around it like a wand.
12. Will you help me go through my clothes/go shopping with me/do a styling session with me?
For sure! I love to help people find what makes them feel good about themselves. If you're local (Indiana area) I'm happy to set up a consultation to go through your closet or we can go shopping together. If you're not local, have no fear! We can always do Skype sessions or chat via email. I LOVE to help people!
13. Do you do collaborations?
Yes! I love hearing about new retailers and helping them promote their products. Just read about my policies here and send me an email. I am very honest with my readers so I promise I won't promote anything on my blog that I wouldn't normally use or wear in my real life. And if I don't like something that was given to me for some reason, you will know.
14. Are your posts sponsored?
Not really. As mentioned above, I do a lot of collaborations. Meaning that retailers will send me products to feature for free if I promote them on my blog and Instagram. But at this point, I am not paid to post about anything specifically.
15. Do you make money from your blog?
I do! Certainly not enough to quit my day job by any means haha and I'm ok with that. I want to blog because I enjoy it and I want my readers to enjoy it as well. Making money is a great benefit, but not a necessity. Being true to who I am and my style is more important. I make money through liketoknow.it/rewardStyle. This is a program that allows me to create unique links to the items I buy so then when I share those links with my readers (through textual links, photos, and Instagram) and they click on them, I get a commission if they end up buying something from that retailer online.
16. Can I repost your photos?
Sure! Just link back to my blog or Instagram and we'll be good.
17. Why do you blog?
Because I love to help people feel good about themselves! I want to show women that you don't have to have a lot of money to dress well and love how you look. I'm just a girl who is always on the hunt for affordable, stylish, modest clothes that I can wear in my everyday life and if I can help others along the way, even better.
18. Cats or dogs?
Both. I have a cat named Mr. Bingley and a dog named Eiger and they are the best.
19. Are you Mormon?
Heck yes I am! And I choose to be modest in the clothes that I wear so that's why you won't see me wearing crop tops, miniskirts, and the like. You can learn more about my faith here.
20. Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings?
Harry Potter. Always.
21. You say you hate pants, but yet you wear them?
This is true. I really hate pants. BUT. I love how they look. Skinny jeans are my favorite fit but they are rather tight/snug just by nature and I find that uncomfortable. They are a necessary evil so I wear them. However, as soon as I get home, they are the first thing to go.
